Full Time, Non-Exempt Position Overview A growing industrial repair operation is seeking experienced Gearbox Technicians to support the teardown, rebuild, testing, and repair of industrial gearbox systems and rotating equipment. This role is ideal for mechanically inclined professionals who enjoy hands on troubleshooting, precision rebuild work, and working with heavy industrial equipment in a fast paced shop environment. Unlike highly segmented repair facilities, this team handles the full repair lifecycle from disassembly through final rebuild and testing. Technicians work closely with operations and machining teams to restore gearboxes to OEM or improved operating condition. Key Responsibilities Disassemble industrial gearboxes and rotating equipment for inspection and repair Identify failed or worn components and document repair findings for quoting purposes Reassemble gearbox systems using precise tolerances and manufacturer specifications Support testing and validation of completed units prior to shipment Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and assembly diagrams Measure and inspect components using precision tools and equipment Coordinate with machinists and operations personnel throughout the repair process Maintain detailed documentation of inspections, failures, and repair recommendations Follow all safety procedures and maintain organized work areas Support additional shop operations and repair activities as needed Qualifications 3+ years of mechanical or industrial equipment experience preferred Experience working with industrial gearboxes, rotating equipment, heavy machinery, construction equipment, or similar systems Automotive gearbox experience may be considered for candidates with strong mechanical aptitude Ability to read blueprints and perform precision measurements Strong troubleshooting and mechanical problem solving skills Comfortable working in an industrial shop environment Self motivated with strong attention to detail and quality Compensation & Benefits $30 to $40/hour depending on experience Entry level candidates with relevant experience may start in the $22 to $25/hour range Overtime opportunities available weekly at time and a half Health insurance and 401(k) offered 2 weeks PTO to start with tenure based increases 4 day workweek schedule
