Job Description

POSITION TITLE
Journeyman Mechanic Pay Range:
$56.44 to $61.93 per hour
REPORTS TO
Shop Manager FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The actual duties required of this position will vary.
Essential Functions will include:
  • Diagnose, rebuild, and repair vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
  • Provides road service.
  • Ensure the PMs are performed according to state and federal standards.
  • Understand and follow company contract requirements.
  • Work area maintained according to OSHA regulations.
  • Additional job duties can be assigned as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Required:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. certification
  • Valid California Commercial Driver's License
  • Must meet driving record qualification standards Must have at least 3 years of previous journeyman truck experience Knowledge of DOT regulations Cummins Insite diagnostic software experience Strong electrical diagnostic experience Must have knowledge and experience working on hydraulics, electrical, engine, and air brakes Knowledge of Federal and State Safety regulations Must have good communication skills Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment Ability to prioritize workload • Ability to lead and assist others • Strong diagnostic skills

Past Forman or lead tech experience Welding and fabrication experience Eaton transmission experience Allison transmission experience Hydraulic experience

ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC WORKING CONDITIONS
The following environmental/atmospheric working conditions are not always associated with the performance of this position. The actual working conditions will vary: Outdoor and Office environment Exposure to extreme weather conditions Exposure to residential and commercial recyclable materials and municipal solid waste This position will require working on commercial vehicles and line equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and listen. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The position also requires frequent lifting and/or moving items over 50 pounds. Pay:
$56.00 - $62.00 per hour
