Job Description
Shift:
Overnight 1:00pm-9:30pm. Weekends as needed.POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Mechanic conducts machine setup, performs repairs/preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting on plant equipment to include, but not limited to: centrifuges, vacuum pumps, mixers, packaging machinery, conveyors, etc.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor/Production Engineer, the Maintenance Mechanic conducts repairs/preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of plant equipment in order to reduce mechanical downtime and keep product flows and production lines running at maximum efficiency.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible to ensure team adheres to safety and quality expectations Performs scheduled maintenance repairs of plant equipment including, but not limited to, production equipment during machine service. Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runs. Performs mechanical skills including, but not limited to: mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines. Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance service. Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production. Installs replacement belts, filters, gears, chains and valves. Rebuilds valves, pumps and gearboxes. Troubleshoots pneumatic, electric and hydraulic machine problems and makes necessary repairs. Performs repairs to machines involving machine guarding, bolt replacement and breakdowns due to mechanical wear. Welds machine components. Performs preventive maintenance tasks such as lubricating parts, drives chains, etc. Handles installations, including hooking up air, water, gas and the alignment and leveling of equipment. Comply with OSHA & CalOSHA safety and health rules. Ensures tasks are completed in accordance with USDA regulations. Maintains accurate records of maintenance work performed. Provides regular status reports to maintenance management team. Operate powered lift vehicles and hand trucks to convey, move, and hoist materials. Ensures tasks are completed in accordance with USDA, FDA, BRC, & Cal-OSHA regulations. Other projects and duties as assigned. Education and Experience Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically: High School diploma or GED. Trade School (of manufacturing relevance) and/or equivalent certification. OSHA certification preferred. 4-6 years of experience in the maintenance fields and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to weld stainless steel and other related metals. Ability to read schematics and hydraulic drawings. Knowledge of electrical circuits and troubleshooting preferred. Self-directed and ability to work independently with initiative. Highly self-motivated and able to work well in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities. Accuracy, organization, and attention to detail. Ability to operate powered lift vehicles; obtain & maintain powered lift vehicles certification. Ability to adapt to conflicting deadlines and priorities established by company demands. Excellent analytical skills and reasoning. Possess strong technical skills in the mechanical field. Good knowledge of maintenance systems, work order process, preventative/predictive maintenance, etc. Able to develop and maintain effective working relationships. Strong interpersonal skills, exercising emotional intelligence. Ability to read and interpret policies and procedures. Work to the highest standards to represent the Company in an exemplary manner. Ability to maintain confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Ability to learn how to use CMMS program.WORK ENVIRONMENT

The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts and vibration, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals. Requires ability to occasionally lift or move objects up to 50 pounds.
