Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented R D Fabricator / Prototype Development Specialist to join our innovative team. In this role, you will be instrumental in transforming conceptual designs into tangible prototypes by utilizing advanced fabrication techniques and mechanical skills. Your expertise will drive the development of cutting-edge products, ensuring precision, quality, and functionality. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects that push the boundaries of technology and manufacturing, contributing directly to the advancement of our research and development initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Fabricate and assemble prototype semi-trailer units from concept through production Design, build, and modify jigs, fixtures, and tooling for manufacturing improvements Support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives Interpret blueprints, drawings, and engineering concepts with minimal supervision Identify and implement fabrication and assembly process improvements Troubleshoot fitment, fabrication, and manufacturing challenges during prototype development Assist in transitioning new trailer models into production Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and attention to detail
Qualifications:
Journeyman Fabricator certification or equivalent experience Extensive welding and metal fabrication experience Experience in heavy equipment, trailer manufacturing, or custom fabrication environments preferred Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production efficiencies Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects Physical requirements include the ability to: Less than 10% of work is accomplished indoors in well-ventilated facilities. Greater than 90% of work is accomplished in a Warehouse shop facility. Performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, repetitive hand wrist motion, and legs, and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, standing for long periods of time, and handling materials. May be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels. May be asked to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
