Job Title:
Engineering Technician Job Description This role supports the upkeep and maintenance of complex fluid systems used in advanced high-energy laser technologies. The engineering technician performs hands-on mechanical assembly using hand and power tools, conducts fluid system maintenance, and troubleshoots issues within a laboratory environment. This position plays a crucial part in the success of next-generation defense-related systems by ensuring components are assembled, maintained, and functioning reliably in demanding conditions. Responsibilities Perform mechanical assembly of components and subsystems using hand and power tools according to engineering specifications and procedures. Support the upkeep and maintenance of fluid systems, including routine inspections, adjustments, and component replacements. Conduct fluid system maintenance activities to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and safety. Troubleshoot mechanical and fluid system issues in the lab department, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions. Use soldering techniques as needed to assemble or repair components and connections. Carry out preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and extend equipment and system life. Document work performed, including assembly steps, test results, and troubleshooting actions, in accordance with established processes. Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to ensure systems meet performance, quality, and reliability requirements. Follow established safety, cleanliness, and quality standards while working in manufacturing and clean room environments. Essential Skills Experience with mechanical assembly using hand and power tools. Hands-on experience with fluid system upkeep and maintenance. Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical and fluid system issues in a lab or similar technical environment. Soldering skills for assembly and repair of components. Ability to perform preventive maintenance on mechanical and fluid systems. Eligibility to work on projects that require United States citizenship. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience working in a manufacturing or laboratory setting. Familiarity with working on advanced technology systems such as high-energy laser or similar complex systems. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed assembly and maintenance procedures. Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and technical staff. Work Environment The role is based in a manufacturing and clean room environment supporting advanced high-energy laser technologies designed to operate in challenging conditions. Technicians work with hand and power tools, fluid systems, and mechanical assemblies in both lab and production settings. The clean room environment requires adherence to strict cleanliness and handling procedures, including appropriate attire and protective equipment as defined by site protocols. The work involves hands-on, detail-oriented tasks and close collaboration with engineering and technical teams to ensure high standards of quality and reliability. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Longmont, CO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $44.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
