Location US-CT-Groton Seat Location EB Groton Shipyard Trade Manufacturing Support/Trades Shift 1st, 2nd, 3rd Security Clearance Required Secret Overview Shipyard Test Organization (D272) is seeking highly motivated candidates to lead and instruct STO-Mechanical Testers in the safe conduct of Virginia and Columbia Class Steam and Electric Plant systems, Weapons, and Hull, Mechanical and Auxiliary systems which may include testing on Sea Trials. The successful candidate will be skilled in the proper planning and preparation required to execute Non-Nuclear Testing in accordance with testing guidelines with the highest level of formality and procedural compliance. Duties include but are not limited to: Test sequence planning in accordance with Virginia and Columbia Class playbook Ability to accomplish complex testing and troubleshooting of Steam Plant, HPA, Weapons and Hydraulic systems Complete Test Form review IAW CONOPs Test Form Prosecution, participate in Surveillance program and perform Safety walkthroughs Partner with Trades on deckplate for system turnover, initial pressurization, troubleshooting and correction to increase workforce efficiency and first-time quality Conduct professional interface with variance entities as needed: Nuclear Test, USN, NAVSEA, Naval Reactors, Engineering, and Vendors Ability to achieve and maintain Qualifications in Virginia and Columbia Class Steam and Electric Plant Ability to read, interpret and teach isometric and mechanical system diagram knowledge to perform Lockout/Tag-out of ship systems in accordance with shipyard standard procedures Demonstrate proper operation of ships systems both on hull and in learning module setting Operate with the highest level of integrity and formality with strict compliance on material history and handling Overtime availability to accommodate major milestones and key event testing as required
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or GED equivalent +2 years trade or vocational school training 3+ years of Mechanical experience and troubleshooting through Technical schooling, industry experience or Military training
Preferred:
