Job Description

Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. 5 years of experience in mechanical sustaining engineering.
Preferred qualifications:
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience. Experience with Product Life-cycle Management (PLM), Engineering Change Order (ECO) management, and fabrication processes including sheet metal, injection molding, and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining. Experience in 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) (SolidWorks, Creo), Tolerance Analysis, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural evaluation. Experience partnering with Contract Manufacturers (CMs) to resolve issues. Ability to perform root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and analyze mechanical/environmental testing data. As a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the development, qualification, and continuous improvement of mechanical parts and their integration at our partner sites globally. You will be the guardian of the process and the expert on the factory floor, ensuring our physical infrastructure is built to the highest quality standards and delivered on time. You will transform suppliers into strategic partners, working alongside Contract Manufacturers (CMs) to create repeatable, controlled manufacturing processes. You will collaborate closely with design engineers, commodity managers, and supplier quality engineers. You will align Google's complex infrastructure needs with exact product specifications. You will ensure our global manufacturing network remains reliable. By guaranteeing that every component fits together perfectly, you will keep our data centers humming smoothly and ensure a seamless experience for users worldwide. Responsibilities Build, source, and test mechanical components, partnering closely with electrical engineers to ensure seamless system integration. Define core manufacturing standards, oversee process changes, and ensure strict compliance across contract manufacturers. Support qualification builds, guarantee production readiness, and drive the qualification of second-source components and vendors. Act as the frontline lead for manufacturing interrupts and escalations, identifying Design for Excellence (DfX) opportunities and mitigating risks. Implement continuous improvement projects and apply lessons learned from manufacturing builds to optimize overall production performance.
