Job Title:
Chassis Prep Technician Job Description This role focuses on the mechanical assembly of heavy equipment components, including chassis, electromechanical systems, and side body components. You will work from blueprints and work instructions to assemble body components and electrical wiring using a variety of hand and power tools in a clean, safe production environment. Responsibilities Assemble heavy equipment chassis, body components, and electromechanical systems according to blueprints and work instructions. Install and route electrical wiring and related components on chassis and side body structures. Use hand and power tools, including impacts, wrenches, sockets, and extensions, to perform mechanical assembly tasks. Perform hydraulic hose assembly and installation as required. Read and interpret blueprint-style work instructions, schematics, and tape measurements to complete accurate assemblies. Follow assembly line procedures to maintain consistent quality and production flow. Inspect assembled components for accuracy, proper fit, and function, ensuring attention to detail in all work. Perform basic mechanical and vehicle-related tasks, such as working with engines, diesel components, and construction or heavy machinery parts as needed. Support preventive maintenance and repair activities on equipment and tools used in the assembly process. Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety guidelines and procedures. Essential Skills Mechanical aptitude and strong interest in mechanical assembly. Proficient use of hand and power tools, including impacts, wrenches, and sockets. Ability to read and interpret tape measures and blueprint-style work instructions. Experience with mechanical assembly in environments such as heavy machinery, vehicle maintenance, automotive service, or construction equipment. Basic understanding of schematics and assembly line processes. Attention to detail with a willingness to learn and follow standardized procedures. Ability to work with components related to engines, diesel systems, pneumatics, and basic electrical elements. Capability to perform hydraulic hose assembly and related tasks. Reliability and ability to work assigned shifts, including training on first shift. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience using specific tools such as 1/2 inch impact, 3/4 impact, 3/8 impact, and 1 inch impact. Familiarity with 9mm wrenches, 19mm sockets, and 19mm extensions. Expertience heavy machinery, vehicle maintenance, automotive repair, or diesel engine work. Experience with construction, repair, and preventive maintenance on mechanical or construction equipment. Comfort working with pneumatics and basic electrical components in an industrial setting. Ability to work effectively in a production or assembly line environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment You will work in a non-temperature-controlled facility that maintains a very comfortable, clean, and safe working environment. The role involves standing for extended periods on an assembly line and using a range of hand and power tools, including various impacts, wrenches, sockets, and equipment for hydraulic hose assembly. The position offers multiple shift options, including a third shift from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and a weekend shift from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., with initial training on first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the first two weeks. You will work around heavy equipment, engines, diesel components, and construction machinery in a production setting that prioritizes organization and adherence to safety procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of LaFayette, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
