Job Description

The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic performs technical duties in the maintenance and repair of Wastewater Treatment Plant facilities and equipment. This position is required to be on-call for one week every five weeks. During the on-call period, the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic must respond within 25 minutes. Participates in the maintenance of wastewater treatment plant equipment, sewage lift stations, and city drinking water wells. Repairs or rebuilds mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment and pumps; maintains and repairs department vehicles. Performs preventive maintenance activities, including greasing pumps, cleaning wet wells, and changing filters, belts, and seals. Maintains inspection, repair, and maintenance records for pumps, wells, motors, and lift stations; completes log books; documents time and materials. Operates equipment such as a backhoe, skid loader, dump truck, front-end loader, etc. Assists in welding and fabricating parts and equipment. Maintains stock of parts and supplies. Performs plumbing repairs. Performs building repairs and maintenance; makes carpentry repairs and paints. Performs general housekeeping duties at the shop. Cleans and washes trucks and equipment. Responds to after-hours emergencies. High School Diploma or GED; One (1) year of experience in a related field; and Valid State of Georgia Driver's License.
