We specialize in the recovery, refurbishment, repair, and installation of stairlifts and mobility equipment, allowing those we serve to remain safely in their homes. Local applicants only. Position Overview This is a part time, highly flexible position designed as an entry pathway into stairlift installation. The role begins with stairlift pickups and shop support responsibilities and transitions into structured installer training for qualified individuals. Retirees and mechanically experienced candidates are encouraged to apply. Initial Responsibilities Transport stairlifts and mobility equipment using your own truck Assist with shop organization, inventory handling, and equipment staging Support basic stairlift refurbishment and mechanical work under supervision Maintain a clean, organized, and professional Chicago based shop environment Installer Training Path Candidates who demonstrate reliability, mechanical aptitude, professionalism, and strong work ethic will be eligible to advance into hands on stairlift installer training . This role is intentionally designed to grow into a technical installation position. Mileage Reimbursement Mileage reimbursement is provided only for pickups beyond a 50 mile radius from the Chicago shop . Pickups within the standard 50 mile service area are not eligible for mileage reimbursement. Qualifications Basic mechanical aptitude and experience using common hand and power tools Valid driver's license and access to a reliable truck Ability to safely lift and transport stairlifts and mobility equipment Strong attention to detail and dependability Interest in long term technical training and development Mission Alignment As a nonprofit organization, Stairlift for Vets prioritizes service, integrity, and impact.
