Job Description
Shape uptime in a USDA facility where precision and pace matter When the second shift gears up in Romeoville, you're the go-to pro making sure our food processing and packaging equipment is ready to run. You'll inspect, diagnose, and repair systems across stacking, bagging, check-weighing, UPC bar coding, case erecting, and conveyor lines—keeping production safe, compliant, and on schedule. Full-time Compensation:
$28.00-$35.00 per hour Expected hours: 48 per week What you'll handle Own safe, reliable operation of facility equipment and complete assigned work to quality and safety standards. Set up, troubleshoot, and repair packaging systems: stacking, bagging, check-weighers, bar coding, case erectors, and conveyors. Disassemble and reassemble equipment for repairs, cleaning, and lubrication per preventive maintenance schedules. Test, diagnose, and fix 110/230/460-volt electrical systems: motors, starters, relays, timers, panels, breakers, conduit, and wiring. Read and interpret electrical control schematics to speed troubleshooting. Perform minor programming and diagnostics on VFDs and PLCs. Follow established safety programs (lockout/tagout, ladder safety, etc.). Communicate clearly with maintenance and operations teams; respond rapidly to unplanned downtime. Ensure equipment is production-ready; maintain building compliance with city and fire regulations. Coach and assist in training maintenance and operating personnel. Fabricate parts and modify equipment as needed. Uphold the requirements of the SQF Food Safety Code for Manufacturing. What you bring Minimum 5 years' mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic experience in a USDA or FDA-regulated food manufacturing environment. Proficiency with hand and power tools and safe machine work practices. Strong verbal and written communication; able to interpret procedures and instructions. Self-motivated, dependable, safety- and quality-focused team contributor. Available to work any shift as required. Valid Illinois Driver's License preferred; bilingual English/Spanish a plus. Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Reading, writing, and basic math skills required.
