Non-Exempt Position Overview Gibson Engineering is seeking a hands-on Electro-Mechanical Technician to support short-term production projects. This role is responsible for assembling, wiring, and troubleshooting a variety of systems ranging from cable harnesses and electrical panels to full turnkey automation equipment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of taking projects from start to finish while maintaining high-quality standards and meeting deadlines. Key Responsibilities Receive and verify production materials against pick lists; inspect for accuracy and damage Organize and manage job components throughout the assembly process Layout, assemble, and wire electrical panels (with engineering approval) Build mechanical assemblies including aluminum extrusion frames, guards, and automation systems Interpret electrical schematics, prints, and technical drawings Troubleshoot, test, and rework electrical and mechanical systems as needed Support field service work, including installations and retrofits Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop floor Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes and workflow efficiency Additional Responsibilities Assist with special projects such as building demo units or supporting sales initiatives Operate shop equipment (e.g., cutting tools, forklifts) as needed Support general facility operations, including crate/skid building and maintenance tasks Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Experience with electro-mechanical assembly in a manufacturing or production environment Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings Hands-on experience with electrical assembly tools, shop equipment, and power tools Familiarity with test equipment such as multimeters (oscilloscopes a plus) Electrical license or trade experience preferred Core Competencies Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Ability to work independently and manage tasks from start to finish Strong teamwork and communication skills Ability to understand how individual work contributes to overall project success Physical Requirements & Work Environment Work performed in a manufacturing/shop environment Regular use of power tools and heavy machinery Ability to stand and perform physical work for extended periods Comfortable working in tight or confined spaces when needed Ability to lift up to 50-70 lbs Basic computer skills (keyboard, mouse, etc.) Additional Information This is a contract position expected to last approximately 3-4 months.
