Mechanical Designer (SolidWorks | Manufacturing | 3+ Years Experience)

BTM Company is seeking a Mechanical Designer to support the design and development of custom automation equipment and special projects. This role is ideal for a hands-on designer who can take concepts through detailed design and work closely with engineering, assembly, and machining teams to bring complex systems to life. You will be responsible for designing, refining, and improving mechanical products to meet customer expectations while maintaining cost efficiency and manufacturability. Key Responsibilities Design and detail mechanical components and assemblies using CAD (SolidWorks preferred) Develop and improve standard products based on customer and internal feedback Review and check drawings, assemblies, and documentation for accuracy Create and manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) Collaborate with machinists to ensure designs are manufacturable Apply lessons learned from previous designs to improve future products Maintain CAD templates and technical documentation Support sales and marketing with technical drawings and documentation Communicate design changes across departments Qualifications 3+ years of mechanical detailing experience 2+ years of mechanical design/layout experience Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred) Working knowledge of machining processes and manufacturing methods Experience with GD&T and designing for cost-effective manufacturing Understanding of material properties and heat treatment basics Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability Education High school diploma required Associate degree in engineering or equivalent CAD experience preferred What We're Looking For Hands-on, practical designer (not purely theoretical) Someone who understands how parts are made—not just how they're drawn Strong communicator who can work across engineering, production, and sales Organized and able to manage multiple projects under deadlines Why BTM?
