Job Description

Job Overview Michigan Bread Company is seeking experienced and motivated Maintenance - Operational Support Technicians to support our fast-paced commercial bakery manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. The ideal candidate will have strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting abilities, experience working in a manufacturing environment, and the ability to work independently in a high-volume food production facility. Available Shifts 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM (2 openings) 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM (1 opening) Duties Perform preventative maintenance (PM) on bakery production and packaging equipment. Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC-controlled systems. Maintain equipment integrity and minimize unscheduled downtime. Diagnose machine malfunctions and perform timely corrective repairs. Install, maintain, and repair production machinery, conveyors, motors, controls, pumps, and facility systems. Support equipment changeovers, startups, and operational troubleshooting during production runs. Repair and maintain boilers, water heaters, water conditioning equipment, and water distribution systems. Monitor and troubleshoot plant electrical systems and main electrical panels. Perform fabrication, welding, and light machining as needed. Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, logs, and parts usage documentation. Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory and identifying reorder requirements. Follow all company safety procedures, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), GMPs, OSHA standards, and food safety requirements. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, efficiency, and waste reduction. Communicate effectively with Production, Quality, Sanitation, and Management teams. Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of manufacturing maintenance experience required. 3-5 years of industrial electrical experience preferred. Bakery or food manufacturing experience strongly preferred. Experience troubleshooting production and packaging equipment.
Working knowledge of:
Industrial electrical controls PLC troubleshooting Pneumatics and hydraulics Mechanical systems Motors and conveyors Fabrication and welding Preventative maintenance systems Basic machining skills preferred. Ability to read electrical schematics, technical manuals, and equipment documentation. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment. Strong communication and organizational skills. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 10 hours per shift. Frequent bending, crouching, kneeling, and climbing ladders. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally and 10-50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift. Ability to work safely around industrial machinery, electrical systems, and production equipment. Ability to perform general cleaning and maintenance tasks as needed. Work Environment This position works in a commercial bakery manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery, varying temperatures, flour dust, and noise.
