Your Job Flint Hills Resources Pine Bend Refinery in Rosemount, MN located in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro is hiring a Mechanical Plant Engineer. This opportunity is a great learning experience for someone who is looking to build on their engineering skills, move into the oil & gas industry, or just looking for a new challenge. Come realize your full potential and join our team! Our Team The Plant Engineering department consists of a team of several new engineers of varying engineering disciplines. Team members will work with refinery engineers, technicians, operators, and other personnel to help the facility safely operate and maintain its mechanical assets. Our Rotational Program Engineers progress through discipline-based rotations supporting the different refinery units and mechanical systems onsite. Anticipated timeframe within the Plant Engineering group is roughly one (1) year with rotations in maintenance and asset management. Each rotation builds technical capability, operational knowledge, and increasing ownership, preparing engineers for long-term growth in asset management, reliability, or project roles. - Promote a proactive safety culture by identifying and controlling hazards.
- Gain understanding in oil flow, refinery units, and basic economics.
- Apply analytical and engineering skills to enhance EH&S and business operations.
- Recommend and implement equipment and process improvements to reduce risks, boost productivity, and lower costs.
- Provide technical support for equipment specifications and design reviews.
- Support and progressively lead Management of Change efforts with input from subject matter experts.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis and develop asset reliability strategies with guidance from senior engineers.
- Work with leaders and technicians to prevent recurring failures.
- Lead projects as scope and experience grow to enhance asset performance.
- Support operations and maintenance technicians' skill development.
- Provide technical support as required for Turnaround activities in assigned areas
- Develop troubleshooting techniques of me.
