We are seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician to be responsible for assembly of electrical parts, pieces or products using a variety of tools and equipment according to required specifications. Read, interpret and follow engineering drawings, diagrams, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble product. Close tolerance mechanical adjusting, fitting and alignment to ensure the product meets quality standards. Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards. Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified. Rework and/or repair assembled equipment. Perform cutting, grinding, and material preparation per drawing or specification. Inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using precision measuring instruments.Qualifications:
Preferred Education & Experience:
Associates degree in related discipline 3+ years of experience or; A combination of education and experience equivalent to above Preferred Knowledge /Ability:
Proficient at reading/interpreting fabrication drawings Proficient with various handheld tools, drill presses, light fabrication tools, hose assembly equipment and torque wrenches Experience using overhead crane, forklift, material handling equipment Basic computer skills; materials management systems preferred Self-starter ability to work independently with little supervision Strong communication, organizational, time management, and basic mathematical skills Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem, produce a new concept and or idea Why join Calspan?
