In this role, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, handling routine and non-routine repairs, and troubleshooting machinery issues. You will oversee the maintenance, repair, installation, and modification of all sawmill equipment, ensuring optimal performance while prioritizing safety, uptime, quality, and productivity.
Essential Duties:
Conduct inspections, servicing, and adjustments as part of routine daily maintenance on vehicles, including lubricating, cleaning parts, and maintaining tractors, trailers, and forklifts. Replace defective machine parts or adjust the clearances and alignment of moving components. Align machines and equipment using a variety of tools, such as hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, micrometers, plumb bobs, and lasers. Repair and lubricate machines and equipment to ensure smooth operation. Assemble and install equipment utilizing both hand and power tools. Move equipment with hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks as needed. Position steel beams to support bedplates of machines and equipment. Insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts with hand tools and measuring instruments to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts. Layout mounting holes using measuring tools and drill with a power drill. Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools. Replace sprockets, pumps, machine centers, chains, sheaves, and belts with proper alignment. Replace hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, valves, and hoses. Perform basic stick welding and oxygen/acetylene torch cutting. Splice and track conveyor belts of various sizes. Perform repairs and preventative maintenance checks per company policies and procedures. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, air, and hydraulic systems. Maintain tools, repair parts, and equipment through regular preventative maintenance. Adjust operating mechanisms to ensure optimal functionality. Evaluate the extent of corrective actions required and determine the necessary repair parts to correct malfunctions. Read, understand, and apply information from company maintenance manuals, technical documents, and schematic diagrams. Follow and implement all required company safety procedures. Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a plant or manufacturing environment performing mechanical repairs and maintenance. Knowledge of sawmill machinery and equipment is highly desirable.
Education:
