This position is at our Magnus Inc location where we have been the leading manufacturer of traction motor support bearings for the railroad industry. Since 1885, we have served locomotive manufacturers and repair shops with axle thrust bearings, locomotive journal bearings, thrust washers and other special bearings in high-leaded bronze. We are seeking a detail-oriented Production Mechanic to join our team. This role involves assembling and disassembling turbochargers while ensuring quality and efficiency in the production process. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to comprehend technical information, and experience using precision measuring tools. Responsibilities /
Job Duties:
Disassemble turbochargers and inspect individual components for wear, damage, or defects. Build/reassemble turbochargers to manufacturer specifications, ensuring proper fit and function. Utilize measuring devices such as feeler gauges, micrometers, and dial indicators to ensure parts meet specifications. Maintain a sense of urgency to meet production demands while adhering to standard timeframes for disassembly, evaluation, and cleaning. Communicate preemptively through proper channels to prevent production delays and ensure a steady supply of required parts or tools. Follow technical guidelines, assembly procedures, and safety protocols to ensure quality workmanship. Work collaboratively with the team to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions as needed.
Pay:
$23 per hour
Requirements/Qualifications:
Strong mechanical skillset—engine or transmission rebuilding experience is a plus. Ability to read and comprehend technical information, including work instructions and blueprints. Proficiency in using precision measuring tools to inspect and verify part specifications. Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently within set time standards. Effective communication skills to report needs and prevent workflow disruptions. Open Schedule(s): 1st shift working 4 10s: Monday - Thursday, 6am-4:30pm.
