ND SHIFT Metal Shop:
Benchwork Technician PME Babbitt Bearings is the world leader in industrial bearing repair, supporting critical power generation infrastructure across the country. For more than 45 years, we have built our reputation on quality workmanship, innovative repair processes, and a highly skilled team of tradespeople. We are currently hiring for a 2nd Shift Metal Shop Benchwork Technician position. This is a hands-on industrial role focused on benchwork, part preparation, component cleanup, foundry support, and mechanical shop work. It is a great opportunity for mechanically inclined individuals looking to build valuable trade skills in a unique industrial environment. This is NOT a repetitive assembly line position. Our shop repairs large industrial turbine and bearing components, and the work is varied, physical, and skill-based. What You'll Do Daily responsibilities may include: Sandblasting and surface preparation Pressure washing and industrial component cleaning Grinding, deburring, polishing, and part finishing Using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and shop equipment Assisting with disassembly and assembly of large components Preparing parts for machining, repair, inspection, and shipment Material handling using forklifts and overhead cranes Foundry and casting support operations Mold, fixture, and tooling preparation and maintenance Assisting with metal melting, cleanup, and casting preparation Shipping, packaging, and crate building Shop cleanup, organization, and production support This role works closely with machinists, fabricators, inspectors, and foundry personnel throughout the repair process. Team members gain experience in machining, industrial repair, fabrication, foundry operations, rigging, and quality processes. For motivated individuals interested in advancing their skills, there are opportunities to continue developing into higher-level technical and machining roles over time. Who We're Looking For We are looking for dependable, hardworking individuals with mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. People with experience in the following areas often do well in this position: Automotive or diesel repair Manufacturing Welding or fabrication Construction trades Industrial maintenance Equipment operation Foundry or metalworking environments Hands-on mechanical hobbies or side work No machining experience is required. What Matters Most Strong work ethic Reliability and attendance Mechanical aptitude Positive attitude Ability to work safely Willingness to learn and grow Requirements Ability to work in an industrial shop environment Ability to safely lift and handle materials and components Ability to learn operation of forklifts and industrial equipment Valid driver's license preferred Pre-employment drug screen required Shift Information This is a full-time 2nd shift position, 4pm-12:30am.
