Mechanical Assembly Technician - 1st Shift ($20/hr) Position Overview The Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for the precise mechanical assembly of fabric‑based expansion joints. This role involves reading measurements, cutting and folding fabric, installing fabric rings, operating a heat press, and performing detailed, repetitive tasks with a high level of accuracy. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, and production equipment in a hands‑on manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Tape measure reading — Accurately read and transfer measurements to fabric according to production specifications. Fabric cutting and folding — Cut, fold, and prepare fabric flaps with consistent precision. Fabric ring installation — Add fabric rings to flaps and use a heat press to seal components securely. Hole punching — Punch holes in exact locations based on measurement requirements. Quality inspection — Continuously inspect work to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards. Repetitive task performance — Maintain focus and accuracy during repetitive, detail‑oriented tasks. Tool operation — Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and production equipment. Work area maintenance — Keep the workspace clean, organized, and safe. Safety compliance — Use PPE and follow all safety procedures. Essential Skills Tape measure proficiency with accurate measurement transfer. Precision cutting and marking for fabric and assembly materials. Mechanical aptitude and comfort with assembly processes. Tool experience in a production or fabrication setting. Basic assembly knowledge and machine operation understanding. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years in manufacturing or production. Experience in fabrication or mechanical assembly. Familiarity with measuring tools and production equipment. Ability to work effectively in a small, collaborative team.
