Job Title:
Mechanical Assembly Technician Job Description This role focuses on the precise mechanical assembly of expansion joints using fabric materials. The Mechanical Assembly Technician reads and interprets measurements, cuts and folds fabric flaps, installs fabric rings, and uses a heat press to seal components. The position requires strong attention to detail, comfort with repetitive and meticulous tasks, and the ability to work safely with hand and power tools in a production environment. Responsibilities Read and interpret tape measure readings to mark fabric accurately according to specifications. Cut and fold fabric flaps for expansion joints with a high degree of precision. Add fabric rings to flaps and operate a heat press to securely seal the rings to the fabric. Punch holes in fabric based on exact measurements and placement requirements. Inspect work continuously to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to production standards. Perform repetitive and detailed tasks with consistent focus and care. Use hand and power tools safely and effectively during assembly and fabrication activities. Follow written instructions, basic schematics, or blueprints as required for production. Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle materials and tools properly. Wear and use provided personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety procedures. Assist in other production or assembly areas as needed to support overall workflow. Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality to support consistent production output. Essential Skills Ability to read a tape measure accurately and transfer measurements to fabric. Proven attention to detail and precision in cutting, marking, and hole punching. Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical assembly processes. Experience using hand tools and power tools in a production or fabrication setting. Capability to perform repetitive, detail-oriented tasks without loss of accuracy. Basic understanding of assembly, general production, and machine operation. Ability to follow instructions, schematics, or basic blueprints as needed. Reliable attendance and strong work ethic in a manufacturing environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred. Experience in fabrication or mechanical assembly is an advantage. Familiarity with measuring tools, including tape measures and related equipment. Comfort working with general production processes and power tools. Ability to work effectively as part of a small, close-knit team. Willingness to learn new skills and assist in different areas of production as needed. Why Work Here? The facility is not temperature controlled, so conditions can vary with the seasons. Work involves hands-on use of hand tools, power tools, measuring tools, and a heat press, with personal protective equipment (PPE) provided for safety. The environment is production-focused, with an emphasis on precision, consistent output, and safe work practices. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bath, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
