Job Description

All About Maintenance:
As an employee working in our maintenance department, you help support our production departments by maintaining and servicing the equipment they use throughout the plant. Departments with Industrial Mechanic positions include Cast House Maintenance, Cold Mill/Mill Finish Maintenance, and Hot Mill Maintenance departments. Safety is our number one value. We will provide you with all the PPE and training you need to perform your job safely. Please note this position is considered safety sensitive.
Schedule:
Our plant runs 24/7/365. Shifts are a 12-hour rotating shift (6a-6p or 6p-6a) on a 28-day cycle. Employees are scheduled 14 of the 28 days. There are mandatory and voluntary overtime opportunities. Sundays are always paid premium (time and a half). Hourly employees are paid weekly.
Key Responsibilities of Industrial Mechanics:
Provide mechanical maintenance, corrective maintenance, fabrication, assembly, and installation activities for the Maintenance Department Maintains air compressors, hydraulics, pumps, piping, mechanical drives, and combustion systems Perform safety inspections Prevent and minimize equipment downtime Problem solving mechanical systems
Basic Qualifications:
Ability to successfully pass the Mechanical Accelerated Assessment Test at Apprentice Mechanic B cut score. Aptitude, ability and willingness to acquire additional training and education that will lead to a minimum Journeyperson Mechanic B classification. (Successful candidate must participate in training programs). 2 years heavy industrial maintenance experience troubleshooting, repairing and installing: hydraulics, pneumatics, piping, mechanical drives, bearings and welding; OR Advanced Technical Degree (Associate in Specialized Trade in Mechanical field); (Provide copy of Diploma with resume) or completion of degree by start date
OR 2 - 3
years Military experience in a mechanical/hydraulic/propulsion field (Provide copy of official MOS with resume) Must be able to lift and carry heavy weights up to 50 pounds. Must own personal tools
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years heavy industrial maintenance experience AND associate's degree in a related field OR Journey-level Certification Proven industrial mechanical maintenance experience to meet Apprentice Mechanic B qualifications: Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with plant manufacturing systems, plant buildings, combustion/furnace systems, and plant utilities (Hyd., Pnu., Pollution, Lub., etc.) Fabricate equipment, parts, and tools using welding, fabrication and machine tool skills Perform machinery/coupling alignment using precision measurement instrument Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical drive systems (to include gears, bearings, belts, chains, and couplings) and perform required installations and repairs Good communication skills; verbal and written and the ability to deal effectively with others. •Candidates that meet preferred qualifications are eligible to take journey-level person assessment test which qualifies them for a higher starting rate of pay•
