Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Assembly Team Lead to join our team in Houston, Texas.
SUMMARY OF THE JOB
The Team Leader oversees a team of mechanical assemblers responsible for building and installing mechanical components for Gutor's large Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems. In addition to performing hands-on assembly tasks, this role coordinates daily work, ensures adherence to safety and quality standards, and drives productivity and continuous improvement.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Mechanical Assembly (Hands-On) Assemble frames, enclosures, and structural components per engineering drawings and work instructions. Install brackets, fasteners, and hardware using hand tools, torque tools, and precision measuring instruments. Align and fit parts to ensure proper function and structural integrity. Prepare mounting surfaces and install cable trays, gland plates, and mechanical supports for electrical integration. Quality & Compliance Perform dimensional checks and torque verification using calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Ensure assemblies meet specifications and company quality standards. Complete inspection checklists and escalate non-conformances promptly. Documentation Read and interpret mechanical drawings, BOMs, and assembly diagrams. Maintain accurate build records, rework logs, and production documentation. Provide redlines for drawing errors or improvement suggestions. Team Leadership Duties People Leadership Assign daily tasks, set priorities, and balance workload across stations. Train and cross-train team members on assembly standards, tool use, and safety practices. Coach team members, monitor performance, and provide feedback. Foster a positive team culture focused on safety, quality, and delivery. Safety & Compliance Lead daily safety huddles and enforce PPE, LOTO, and ergonomic practices. Conduct safety audits and report hazards or near-misses. Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools and lifting equipment. Production Control Execute build plans to meet takt time and delivery schedules. Monitor WIP, resolve blockers, and coordinate with material handlers for shortages. Collaborate with Electrical Team Lead, Quality, and Engineering to resolve issues quickly. Continuous Improvement Lead 5S and kaizen events within the mechanical assembly area. Standardize work instructions and implement error-proofing measures. Reduce rework and improve first-pass yield through root cause analysis.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred. 3-5+ years of mechanical assembly experience in industrial or power systems. Ability to read mechanical drawings and use precision measuring tools. Proficient with hand tools, torque tools, and lifting equipment. Knowledge of safety practices in a manufacturing environment. Experience in team coordination or leadership. Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Gutor in the
US. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior team lead or working lead experience. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles (5S, standard work). Basic understanding of electrical integration. Fluency in Spanish.
WHAT WE OFFER
The base salary range for this position is $80,000 - 105,000 USD, depending on experience and qualifications. Paid holidays

PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Manufacturing environment with standing, bending, and lifting up to ~50 lbs; frequent use of hand/power tools. Occasional overtime to meet ship dates; PPE required (safety glasses, gloves; arc-rated gear as applicable).
