Job Description
Overview System One—an industry leader in outsourced services and workforce solutions—seeks a Rail Services Technician for onsite work in Houston, NY. This role involves highly skilled installation, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical equipment, including wiring/harnesses, with structured initial training and strong safety expectations. Responsibilities Troubleshoot, repair, and install equipment and specialized mechanical machinery and panels. Layout, assemble, test, and install apparatus and equipment using blueprints, schematics, sketches, verbal instructions, and other specifications. Prepare for work by studying relevant documents, including assembly instructions, FMIs, and blueprint specifications. Utilize knowledge of parts lists, subassemblies, tools, and materials to support accurate installation and repair. Align, fit, and assemble component parts using hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools while following blueprints. Verify specifications by measuring and testing completed components. Install, repair, and service specialized mechanical equipment, machinery, panels, and wiring/harnesses. Perform other duties as required and assigned. Requirements High school diploma or GED. Technical school or associated certifications preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years industrial maintenance related experience. Previous rolling stock experience would be a plus. Ability to work in a high pressure environment. Ability to work varying work shifts (1st, 2nd and 3rd). Strong skills in mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment troubleshooting. Strong troubleshooting skills and blueprint schematics reading skills. Self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills for day-to-day operations. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel). Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
