Job Title:
Mechanical Installer Job Description The Mechanical Installer assembles, installs, tests, and maintains mechanical components, subassemblies, and production equipment used in manufacturing operations. This role supports efficient, high-quality production by ensuring equipment is built and maintained to specification while following all safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Responsibilities Assemble, align, and install mechanical components, subassemblies, and production parts for processing and packaging equipment. Perform routine mechanical adjustments, calibrations, and preventive maintenance to help ensure machinery operates efficiently and reliably. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions to complete accurate assemblies. Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring devices, and diagnostic equipment to assemble and verify mechanical components. Inspect completed assemblies for accuracy, quality, and adherence to company specifications and applicable standards. Collaborate with maintenance technicians, engineers, and production teams to resolve mechanical issues and support continuous improvement efforts. Maintain clear and accurate documentation of assembly work, inspections, and maintenance activities. Follow all company safety protocols, Good Manufacturing Practices, and applicable manufacturing regulations. Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety and quality standards. Participate in required training and cross-training to support operational flexibility and coverage. Manage logistics for plant tours, vendor visits, and customer visits, ensuring a professional and safe experience within the facility. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED required. One (1) to three (3) years of mechanical assembly or maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices. Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills. Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and other technical documents. Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the production floor for extended periods. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to perform frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and handling of components and tools. Sufficient visual acuity to read measurements, inspect assemblies, and identify mechanical issues. Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and active production areas. Additional Skills & Qualifications Technical training in mechanical assembly, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred. Experience with industrial or machine assembly environments. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices and manufacturing regulations. Comfort working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, engineering, and production. Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate documentation and orderly work areas. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a clean, well-lit manufacturing facility with active production areas and moving equipment. Standard hours are approximately 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., working four nine-hour days with a four-hour day on Fridays. The environment includes typical manufacturing noise levels and requires consistent use of hand tools, power tools, precision measuring devices, and diagnostic equipment. The position involves frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and handling of components, as well as regularly lifting up to 50 pounds. Employees are expected to follow all safety protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices while maintaining an organized and compliant work area. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Henrico, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
