Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shipyard Supervisor to oversee daily operations within a dynamic maritime environment. This role involves managing shipbuilding, repair, and maintenance projects, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency across all activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, technical expertise in mechanical and electrical systems, and a comprehensive understanding of shipyard processes. As a pivotal member of our team, the Shipyard Supervisor will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, enforce safety protocols, and uphold the highest standards of craftsmanship and customer service. Responsibilities Supervise daily shipyard operations, including assembly, fabrication, and maintenance tasks. Coordinate with service technicians to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems using schematics, multimeters (ohmmeters), calipers, and other precision measuring instruments. Oversee the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering stations, and heavy lifting gear to ensure safe and efficient work practices. Manage rigging operations for vessel installation or repair projects while ensuring compliance with safety standards. Monitor progress on projects involving sheet metal work, vehicle maintenance, and fabrication to meet deadlines and quality benchmarks. Conduct inspections to verify adherence to technical specifications and safety regulations; address any discrepancies promptly. Lead training sessions on equipment use such as heavy machinery, electrical systems, or assembly techniques for team members. Maintain detailed documentation of work performed using schematics and technical drawings; facilitate communication between teams and clients. Enforce safety protocols rigorously to prevent accidents; promote a culture of safety awareness throughout the facility. Support customer service efforts by providing technical guidance and ensuring client satisfaction with completed work. Experience Proven experience as a service technician or mechanic within a shipyard or related industrial environment. Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, welding techniques, fabrication processes, and mechanical assembly. Familiarity with military standards or procedures is advantageous but not mandatory. Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, calipers, heavy lifting gear, and precision measuring instruments. Background in vehicle maintenance or sheet metal work enhances suitability for this role. Demonstrated ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately. Strong leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced settings. Excellent customer service skills combined with effective communication abilities.
