Plant Mechanic Salary $48,380.80 Annually Location Winchester, VA Job Type Full-time Classified Department Public Services Department Division Public Services Opequon Water Reclamation Facility Opening Date 05/19/2026 Closing Date 6/19/2026 5:00 PM Eastern FLSA Non-Exempt Description Benefits Questions Description Duties and Responsiblities Troubleshoots machinery and equipment using listening and visual inspection and tests to determine machine malfunctions and operating variations Makes diagnoses and repairs Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts; Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery Lays out, assembles, installs and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, and fixtures and tools Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures Repairs and maintains the heating and air conditioning within the facility Requirements Education and/or

Experience:

Any combination of a High School diploma or equivalent is required; with one year of related experience and/or training.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Possession of a valid and appropriate driver's license.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.
