Job Description
JOB The Maintenance Specialist is responsible and performs custodial duties, general maintenance, grounds upkeep as required of campus facilities and general maintenance at college locations as assigned. Position is located at the Talladega Center, located at 1009 South Street East, Talladega, AL 35160 This position is postedin compliance with Alabama Code§ 16-22-15 . It is the intent to place a current employee in this position.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES 1.
Cleans, sweeps, mops, vacuums, dusts, polishes, deodorizes, sanitizes, and removes trash in offices, classrooms, bathrooms, halls and other areas in all college buildings. 2. Cleans lavatories and toilets with using cleansers and sanitizing solutions. 3. Disposes of waste paper and other discards; collects and places trash in appropriate trash pickup area. 4. Supervises and transports inmates as instructed. 5. Locks and unlocks campus buildings. 6. Sweeps steps and sidewalks adjacent to buildings 7. Shampoos or spot cleans carpets and rugs, using a rug shampooing machine, brush or cloth and cleaning solutions. 8. Ensures adequate supply of materials and supplies are available. 9. Performs basic facility maintenance duties. 10. Assists with grounds maintenance as assigned (mows, trims, edges, landscaped areas as assigned.) 11. Inspects assigned areas and corrects or reports safety hazards. 12. Cleans and maintains grounds, paved areas, paths, walkways and stairways. 13. Clears weeds and brush in underdeveloped grounds areas. 14. Maintains inventory of materials and supplies and prepares material and equipment estimates for assignments. 15. Maintains work sites in a clean and orderly condition. 16. Safely operates college vehicles and maintains a variety of hand and power landscaping tools and equipment, including hand and riding mowers, tractors, sprayers, hedge trimmers, weed eaters, chainsaws, rollers, pruners, ladders and other tools. 17. Observes safe work methods and uses safety equipment. 18. Secures worksites from traffic hazards as necessary. 19. Prepares basic records and reports of completed work, vandalism, maintenance requests. 20. Directs campus visitors to and answers inquiries about the location of buildings and properties. 21. Serves as campus courier delivering and exchanging campus mail at designated times as assigned. 22. Participates and serves on various committees and attends meetings as instructed. 23. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. 24. Adheres to the policies, rules, and standards of Central Alabama Community College, Alabama Community College System, accrediting agencies and federal regulatory bodies.
