Job Summary:
The Assistant Manager of Grounds manages, schedules, and assigns work for Laborers, Groundskeepers, Team Leads, Truck Drivers, and Equipment Operators. Provides customer service by interacting with customers to clarify work orders, set work schedules, and follow up during and at completion of work. Conducts on-site inspections for work in progress and completed work projects.
Additional Department Summary:
This position will be required to work some special events including all home football game weekends and on-call weekends.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED and eight (8) years of groundskeeping experience; OR Associates degree and six (6) years of groundskeeping experience; OR Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of groundskeeping experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:
Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions. Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
Skills and Knowledge:
Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and plans. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products and enterprise management systems; ability to effectively use these for the purposes of scheduling personnel and inventory, purchasing, communicating, and reporting. Ability to perform inspections. Good verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Alabama Ornamental and Turf Pesticide Applicator certification or ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of hire. Associate's degree in landscape horticulture, architecture, construction, business management, or similarly related field of study. Understanding of work-related Spanish communication. ground
