Position Overview Lake Havasu City is seeking a dependable Street Maintenance Assistant Part-Time to join our Public Works team. This role performs vital unskilled and semi-skilled physical labor to maintain, construct, and repair City streets, rights-of-way, and drainage systems.
Environment & Schedule Note:
This position involves strenuous outdoor work in extreme desert temperatures. Candidates must be available for non-standard, rotating shift work, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities Infrastructure Maintenance:
Maintain road rights-of-way by clearing debris, cutting weeds, and cleaning ditches.
Equipment Operation:
Safely operate power tools (chain saws, concrete saws, air hammers, pavement breakers, tampers) and drive required trucks.
Work with crews to clean drainage systems, maintain landscaping, and repair City structures.
Safety & Service:
Follow all Risk Management safety rules and deliver exceptional customer service to the public.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience:
Moderate experience performing physical labor or maintenance duties related to public works/construction. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Special Requirements Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) of the appropriate class. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods in extreme heat. Physical agility to lift and move heavy objects weighing up to 90 pounds or more. Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, climb, and walk over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces. Good communication skills to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to establish effective working relationships with team members and the public.
Working Conditions Physical Labor:
Heavy manual labor requiring frequent lifting, digging, and tool operation.
Environment:
Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, wet/humid conditions, loud noise, and vibrations. Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles. To View the
