Grounds Maintenance Worker - Facilities

Under the direction of the Grounds Maintenance Manager, perform a variety of grounds maintenance and gardening duties in the beautification of assigned grounds and landscaped areas. Perform quality work in the maintenance of all grounds including parks, cemeteries, playgrounds, enterprises and other assigned areas; including picking up paper, trash and debris on grounds areas. Perform grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, trimming, and watering lawns, fields and other turf grounds; prepare and fertilize soil; water various grounds areas by hand or by operating the irrigation system. Planting, cultivating, pruning, pesticide/herbicide application, fertilizing and irrigation of flowers, trees, grass and shrubs; string-trim hoe and pull weeds and rake leaves; edge walkways; sweep litter from walks and driveways. Inspect grounds areas and playground equipment for safety concerns, vandalism, maintenance and repair needs; performs minor maintenance and repairs on equipment and fixtures as required; refer major maintenance and repair needs to appropriate personnel; assist with irrigation and other equipment installations as directed. Perform a variety of general construction duties involved the installation, maintenance and repair of irrigation systems, concrete, fences and other outdoor equipment and structures as assigned by the position. Knowledge of landscape principles, basic irrigation repair, troubleshooting and installation, operation of landscape related equipment and all safety rules and precautions required. Use and instruct in the use of various types of hand tools and landscape equipment. Valid California driver's license and insurable on company policy require Minimum 2 years experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping or closely related field sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge of abilities listed above. Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred High School diploma or GED preferred
