Maintenance Worker

The City of Cypress is seeking dedicated and responsible individuals to join our Public Works team! Current openings are available in our Streets , Facilities and Landscape d ivisions. Knowledge of:

Methods, materials, and safe work practices, including the appropriate use of personal protective equipment of public works repair and maintenance including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and confined space hazards. The use and operation of appropriate power-driven and motorized equipment and hand tool use. Common tools and materials used in public works maintenance and general construction. Modern construction, repair techniques and maintenance procedures. Safe driving practices and State and local laws pertaining to the operation of assigned vehicles on streets and roads. Types of vehicles include but are not limited to, Sewer Jetter/Cleaning /Truck, Asphalt Patch Truck, Asphalt Roller, Motograder, Caterpillar, Street Sweeper, Water Truck, Boom Truck, Chipper Truck, Dump Truck, Backhoe Tractor and Front Loader Tractor.

Ability to:

Operate light motorized equipment and appropriate use of hand tools. Understand, interpret and carry out both oral and written instructions. Communicate effectively. Perform heavy and light manual labor. Safely lift, carry or relocate objects and materials weighing 60 pounds. Follow and adhere to all safety rules and regulations. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties.

Experience Streets:

Experience working in public works street and/or construction.

Facilities:

Experience working in construction and/or facility repair and maintenance, including carpentry, electrical, heating and air conditioning, plumbing, and painting

Landscape:

Experience performing gardening, nursery, or groundskeeping maintenance work.

Education/License:

A high school diploma or G.E.D. Must possess and maintain a valid Class B license within 6 months of hire .
