QUALIFICATIONS
To qualify, applicants must meet ONE of the following experience requirements: Option 1 Two (2) years of experience equivalent to Alameda County's Building Maintenance Laborer classification assisting Stationary Engineers, Building Equipment Maintenance Workers, Electricians, or Plumbers in maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment. OR Option 2 Two (2) years of recent, full-time paid experience maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment. Required License & Certification Valid California Driver's License EPA Section 608 Class I and Class II CFC Certification (required at time of application) Additional Requirements Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance for detention facilities Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, climbing ladders, working on scaffolding, and working in confined spaces About the Position The Alameda County General Services Agency (GSA) is seeking a Building Equipment Maintenance Workers to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems and equipment, including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and emergency power systems. Key Responsibilities Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems Perform preventive maintenance on building equipment Assist Stationary Engineers, Electricians, and Plumbers with repairs Operate and maintain boilers and related equipment Fabricate and repair equipment using machine shop and metal fabrication tools Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate has hands-on experience maintaining commercial building systems and possesses strong troubleshooting skills related to HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and electrical equipment. Candidates should be able to work independently, follow detailed instructions, and maintain positive working relationships with staff and the public.
