This is the entry level in the Sewer Maintenance Worker Series.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Exercises no supervision.EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Participate in a seven (7) day weekly standby rotation, including weekends and holidays. Must be able to respond to a call-out within 30 minutes Maintain and repair the sewer system. Operate heavy equipment. Maintain tools and equipment in working order. Assist others during the performance of their work. Maintain logs of daily activities. Maintain vehicle log.OTHER JOB-RELATED DUTIES
Continuously, know and understand maintenance activities and observe safety rules. Intermittently analyze problem equipment, identify safety hazards, locate equipment, intercept work orders, and operate equipment. Intermittently sit while driving a piece of equipment, stand, and walk while performing maintenance activities, bend and twist to adjust equipment, kneel and squat to review work, climb up onto heavy equipment to begin operation, perform single and power grasping, pushing, pulling, fine manipulation, lift or carry weights of 50 pounds or less. Perform minor maintenance activities related to the area of assignment. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Work with a variety of tools related to public service maintenance.2 Learn to operate a variety of maintenance equipment. Perform heavy manual labor.CONFLICTS AND RELATED POLICY

Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) gradeExperience:
One year of experience in the construction and maintenance of a sewer system.License or Certificate:
Must possess a valid California Class "A" Driver's License applicable to the equipment being operated, including a tank endorsement and secure Class "I" State Wastewater License Grade I, and have at least two (2) years of experience in wastewater operations.
