Job Description

SERVICE WORKER IV
Lake Myrtle Sports Complex Parks and Recreation Department
MAJOR FUNCTION
This is responsible skilled work involving the daily operation and maintenance of the Lake Myrtle Division in the Parks and Recreation Department with the City of Auburndale. Work is performed under the supervision of the Lake Myrtle Superintendent.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Responsible for the daily construction, maintenance and repair of the City's athletic facilities including: Lake Myrtle Sports Complex, Auburndale Trail, Auburndale Softball Complex, Spivey Complex and other athletic facilities and their common areas. Performs landscaping and turf maintenance work (e.g., maintenance, fertilizing, weed control, irrigation work). Able to assist the Facilities Superintendent with maintenance schedules, event and staff scheduling, turf management procedures and techniques. Operates various light, heavy and medium duty vehicles and equipment (e.g., flatbed truck, dump truck, backhoe, bulldozer, tractor and front-end loader) and landscaping equipment (e.g., mower, tractor edger weed eater, hedge trimmer, saw). Performs maintenance and minor repair of assigned equipment and tools. Identifies and reports vandalism and safety concerns. Operate City's internal communication (radio) system. Performs other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE
Considerable knowledge of the principles, methods, practices, rules and regulations, procedures and operations of general trade work, recreational facility and grounds maintenance as applicable to a municipal setting. Ability to operate and maintain various light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles, equipment and tools. Knowledge of applicable City laws, policies and regulations affecting division activities. Knowledge of related landscaping and recreation grounds maintenance rules and regulations on the local, state and federal level as well as occupational hazards. Ability to interpret plans, blueprints and maps. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely (i.e., verbally and written). Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, other federal, state and local governmental representatives, contractors, consultants, vendors and the general public is essential. Graduation from High School or G.E.D. The successful candidate will have at least four (4) years experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, general trades and/or facility maintenance activities as well as operating light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles and related equipment. A comparable amount of training and experience will be considered. Prefer successful candidate to have a spray technician license. Must have a valid Florida Commercial Driver's License (Class B) or able to obtain within 90 days.

WORK SCHEDULE
Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM. Must be able to work weekends as needed
HIRING RATE
$42,855 Annual
