FUNCTION
Working closely with the Facilities, Maintenance, and Transportation Manager, the Maintenance Support Specialist is responsible for the maintenance of facilities, grounds, and equipment of Boys & Girls Clubs locations. In addition, when required and under direction of the Facilities, Maintenance, and Transportation Manager (Manager), this role will assist Club Directors with special projects and provide support for special events.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES
(not-all inclusive) Risk Management and Maintenance Ensure adherence to appropriate safety procedures. Ensure safe usage and proper maintenance of tools/equipment Ensure that cleaning materials and supplies are properly used and maintained Ensure that a clean, healthy, safe, positive environment is maintained. Ensure an attractive, welcoming, and fun environment is maintained. Facilities Maintenance and Repair Coordinate routine preventative maintenance with the Manager. Develop and maintain existing efficiencies to ensure the proper upkeep of facility resources. Assist the Manager in facilitating annual municipal and/or state inspections to ensure code compliance. Provide minor repairs, including but not limited to minor carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, landscaping and lock replacement or repair to Club locations. Repair broken equipment as directed. Perform pressure washing as needed and oversee weekly property trash removal. When needed, serve as backup for contracted janitorial services. Facility Resources and Management Maintain inventory, order and stock cleaning and paper supplies for Club locations. Maintain inventory of all facility maintenance assets and promptly notify the Director of any requirements or concerns. When required, escort scheduled service suppliers to the equipment or area requiring service.
Requirements:
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
(not all inclusive) This position is part time - 25 hours per week as assigned by the Manager. Additional hours may be required on occasion. A minimum of 3 years' experience in property maintenance. Ability to use electronic communication, including email and Microsoft Teams, professionally and efficiently. Valid State Driver's License. Must pass pre-employment background check and drug test. Experience in working in presence of children and a basic knowledge of youth development. Strong Organization, Time Management Skills and the ability to set Priorities. Possess a strong Work Ethic, Positive Attitude, High Level of Energy and Flexibility. Strong communication, Interpersonal skills, and attention to Detail. Must be comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Required to stand, walk, and sit. Able to use hands and fingers on a computer keyboard and other office equipment. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The noise level in the work environment is high due to work is conducted in a Club setting for Children, inside and outside. It is the policy of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County that applicants for employment undergo level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment. All applicants for employment or to volunteer who are selected for an interview will be provided with the Consent to Background Screening form for level 2 screening, and/or an Affidavit of Good Moral Character. The leading candidate for employment will be required to execute the Consent form and report to a designated location and submit fingerprints for level 2 screening. No applicant for a designated position will be employed until the level 2 screening results are received, reviewed, and approved by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County, Office of Human Resources. Level 2 background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for statewide criminal and juvenile records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and federal criminal records checks through the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and may include local criminal records checks through local law enforcement agencies.
