Senior Maintenance Worker Minimum Requirements High School diploma or GED and one (1) year of experience as a Maintenance Worker with Volusia County or two (2) years of experience in construction and/or general maintenance work. Valid Florida Driver's License. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of equipment used in maintenance, and grounds keeping. Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to safe operation of this equipment. Fill out daily work sheets and other required forms. Operate forklifts, scissor lifts (elevated platforms), ride-on floor maintenance equipment. Interpersonal skills Communication skills, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of equipment used in maintenance and grounds keeping. Summary The County of Volusia is seeking a Senior Maintenance Worker for the Ocean Center. This position is located in Daytona Beach, Florida and will be responsible for Semi-skilled manual labor in the performance of manual laboring tasks in a wide variety of construction and maintenance work. Duties Operates commercial grade power washers, ATVs, floor scrubbers and sweepers, forklifts, scissor lift, boom lifts and other equipment as needed. Reads and utilizes event work orders and floor plans to set up/take down events. Performs venue set up for meetings, classroom training, theater, presentations, or banquets. Installs event specific equipment such as basketball court and goals, dance floor, staging, risers, etc. Performs minor plumbing repairs. May serve as a lead worker on a small work crew. Attends work on a regular and consistent basis. Performs entry level Maintenance Worker duties when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. Adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances. Responds to emergency situations. May be assigned to other locations based upon operational needs.
