Buildings and Grounds Assistant

Position Summary Zion Lutheran Church is seeking a dependable and service-oriented Buildings & Grounds Assistant to support the maintenance, cleanliness, and overall appearance of the church campus. This part-time position works closely with the Building Supervisor to ensure church facilities and grounds remain welcoming, safe, and well-maintained for worship services, school activities, ministry events, and community gatherings. Key Responsibilities  Maintain the cleanliness and organization of offices, classrooms, meeting spaces, fellowship areas, sanctuary, and common areas.  Perform routine cleaning duties including trash removal, floor care, dusting, sanitizing surfaces, and cleaning windows and glass doors.  Clean and restock restrooms and custodial supplies as needed.  Assist with setup and breakdown of tables, chairs, and equipment for church and school events.  Support light maintenance projects, painting, and minor facility repairs.  Assist with landscaping, gardening, and general grounds maintenance.  Provide courteous assistance to church members, staff, visitors, and vendors.  Perform additional duties as assigned by the Building Supervisor or Senior Pastor. Qualifications  Previous custodial, maintenance, or facilities experience preferred.  Ability to safely use cleaning supplies, tools, and maintenance equipment.  Ability to lift, carry, and move items up to 50 pounds.  Ability to work indoors and outdoors in Florida weather conditions.  Strong work ethic with the ability to maintain a consistent schedule.  Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with church leadership and staff.  Positive attitude with a heart for serving the church community.
