WORKS VARIED HOURS INCLUDING WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS
This position is considered an "Essential Position" for the purpose of Emergency Management. Emergency duties will be assigned as needed. This position requires 24 hours a day, 7 days per week availability during City of Port St Lucie emergencies, as determined by City Administrators, Emergency Manager or City Officials. The following duties are illustrative of this position. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Parks Maintenance Worker I- Keeps the mission, vision, and values of the City of Port St.

- Operates single and tandem-axle dump trucks, water trucks, and loaders on assigned projects and rework tasks.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Parks Maintenance Worker I- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is required. Two (2) years of grounds maintenance experience is required. A comparable amount of training, education, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Parks Maintenance Worker II

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Parks Maintenance Worker I- Possession of a valid driver's license and maintenance of a clean driving record are required, with the ability to obtain a valid Florida driver's license within 30 days from the date of hire. Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI), Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO), or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred. Parks Maintenance Worker II

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Parks Maintenance Worker I- Knowledge of tools and equipment required to perform duties Knowledge of groundskeeping practices and principles Skill in the operation and preventive maintenance of equipment and related tools Ability to operate equipment required to perform duties Ability to perform heavy manual labor under various weather conditions Ability to follow written and oral instructions Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees and the public.
- Knowledge of landscape maintenance, turf installation and irrigation systems.
- Knowledge of the operation, maintenance and use of dump and flatbed trucks or tractors and of the less complex parks equipment.
