General Maintenance Worker- Part- Time

Performs unskilled and semi-skilled trades work, which often involves heavy manual labor and the use of acquired skills. Other duties as required. This is routine work involving the use of some skills acquired by experience or on-the-job instruction. Work requires more than usual physical strength and endurance. An employee in this class normally works under the supervision of a technical supervisor who issues oral or written work orders and inspects work frequently. Rakes leaves, Weeds flower beds and trims and prunes trees, and Hedges Maintains and installs landscape shrubbery, plants trees using hand tools, spreads mulch and applies fertilizers, Maintains athletic turf. Works with galvanized PVC pipes, irrigation heads. Paints, equipment and buildings. High School Diploma or GED; Some experience in performing unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance and construction tasks. Possession of a valid Florida Drivers License.

Some knowledge of a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and manual tasks; Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; Ability to read and write; Ability to climb ladders; Ability to use hand and power tools; Must be able to tolerate dusty conditions, full sun exposure, contact with sawdust, lubricating fluids, grass clippings and other such irritating and hazardous materials normally found in an outdoor environment; Must be able to tolerate contact with insects such as fire ants, bees and other insects commonly associated with lawns and trees; Willingness to perform heavy manual work for an extended period under varying climatic conditions; Ability to drive a truck Ability to read, write, and understand assignments in English.
