Plantation, FL Job Details Full-time $35,110.40 - $65,466.96 a year 1 day ago Qualifications Computer operation Outdoor work Asphalt Computer literacy Safety regulations Writing skills High school diploma or GED Driver's License Driving Data entry Cleaning Highway maintenance Hand tools Stakeholder relationship building Entry level Under 1 year Full Job Description Description This is a non-exempt position which requires unskilled and semi-skilled manual work in the performance of light and heavy manual labor for conducting various maintenance duties for various municipal departments of the City of Plantation. Employees are hired as AT WILL employees that serve at the pleasure of the City and may be terminated at any time with or without cause. Examples of Duties Inspect, maintain, repair, or replace City street signs as needed. Remove graffiti or paint over affected areas within City limits in accordance with City standards. Assist with the setup and maintenance of Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) for road closures and other traffic control activities. Inspect, repair, and maintain potholes and roadway surfaces within City limits. Provide support to asphalt and concrete crews as assigned. Demonstrate the ability to understand and apply roadway markings and traffic control standards. Utilize basic computer skills to accurately input data and demonstrate the ability to learn more advanced software applications as required. Safely operate equipment and tools necessary to perform assigned duties in compliance with all City safety rules, regulations, and procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned. Typical Qualifications Knowledge of occupational hazards associated with the trade and the proper application of safety practices and procedures. Knowledge of cleaning methods and demonstrated skill in the safe and effective use and care of cleaning materials and equipment. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including learning and following the work order process. Ability to safely operate assigned equipment in accordance with City policies and safety standards. Ability to operate a City vehicle and possess or obtain the required license as required for the position. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, or holidays, based on operational needs. Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under hot and humid environmental conditions. Ability to understand, follow, and carry out oral and written instructions and complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, employees, supervisors, other departments, outside agencies, and the general public. Skilled in the use of common hand tools and mechanical equipment relevant to the position.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; supplemented by a minimum of 6 months of experience in; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid State of Florida Driver's license and ability to obtain CDL driver's license with-in time table set by Public Works Director. Work Environment Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments and requires travel between various work sites.
