Job Description

What you'll do: This position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance of City-owned facilities and infrastructure. Repair equipment at City parks and facilities such as playgrounds, fencing, benches, water fountains and signs. Pressure cleans sidewalks, buildings, and tennis/basketball courts. Performs minor electrical and plumbing repairs when needed. Performs drywall, framing, and door repair work. Conducts regular inspections of facilities, parks, and equipment. Trims and removes trees as needed. Assist maintenance crews with sod installation. Paints various equipment and signage. Perform carpentry work to repair/construct assigned projects. Welds benches and soccer goals as necessary. Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED. Three (3) years of related work experience. Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Must possess FEMA 100, 200, and 700 certifications, or the ability to obtain within the first six (6) months of employment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of tools and equipment used in parks maintenance. Knowledge of the occupational safety rules and regulations. Knowledge of routine preventative maintenance of hand and power tools and equipment. Skill in the use of hand and power tools, materials and equipment used to maintain park equipment. Ability to operate trucks, aerial trucks, power saws, hand tools, safety equipment and other hydraulic and gas powered equipment. Ability to perform strenuous labor in all weather conditions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, officials, and the public. Ability to read instructions, write simple reports, visually determine that work is being done correctly, differentiate colors, and hear instructions given in a quiet or noisy environment. The work is medium and requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, manual dexterity, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
