Boat Yard Assistant (Cleaning, Maintenance, Repairs)

Job Description We are currently looking for a Boat Yard Assistant who will work at our Sailing Center under the direction of the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient operation. The Boat Yard Assistant will be primarily responsible for the upkeep of the fleets (90+ boats - Sail & Power) and facility. Although no two days are ever the same, the position will typically handle cleaning and rearranging boats, repairing damages (fiberglass experience a plus), and general maintenance. This is a part time position that has the opportunity to transition to full-time for the right candidate. Working weekends is required. Responsibilities Monitors sailing programs and ensures safe program operation Helps with ongoing facility maintenance as directed by Supervisor Helps other departments as necessary Follows daily procedures as directed by Supervisor Maintains a clean and safe work environment Maintains & Repairs club-owned waterfront apparatus, including fleets of sailboats and powerboats Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications Boat handling skills and knowledge of nautical terminology Line handling skills, including the ability to tie bowline, half hitch knots, toss, and cleat lines Unlimited or unimpaired ability to walk, bend, stoop, climb, and work safely around water, on a ladder, or in confined spaces Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds Excellent communication and customer service skills Knowledge of fiberglass repair a plus Sailing experience a plus Company Description The St. Petersburg Yacht Club is a private, members-only club that is internationally known for providing the highest quality service to our members and visiting guests since the early 1900s.
