5146 Position Vacancy Announcement Florida A&M University's Facilities, Planning, Construction and Safety/Plant Operations & Maintenance/Building Maintenance Department is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Senior Motor Vehicle Operator vacancy. Responsibilities Responsible for operating large automotive or farm vehicles and or small construction equipment; This may include operating street sweepers, passenger buses or vans, front and back end loaders. Assists in the following Carpentry duties: Repairing windows, walls, ceilings, stairs, furniture, and floors; including basic masonry, tile work, wood work, caulking, painting, and hanging doors under the instruction of the Maintenance Specialist or Maintenance Mechanic assigned. Performs general labor, i.e. moving furniture or equipment, etc., as necessary; Cleans, stores and maintains tools, brushes, vehicles, and other related equipment in good working order; cleans working areas. Minimum Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalency and possession of a classified driver's license appropriate to the type of vehicle operated and one year of related experience. Recommended Competencies Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; Knowledge of and ability to safely operate a variety of production equipment; Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations; Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously; Ability to utilize problem solving skills; Knowledge of and ability to apply set research and laboratory procedures and safety practices; Knowledge of supervisory principles, practices, and techniques; Ability to utilize technical skills; Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices; and, Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Anticipated Salary Range The salary range is between $33,000 to $35,360 commensurate with relevant experience. Licenses and Certifications Must maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License Class B. Pay Plan This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position. Conditions of Employment Successful candidate is subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks and verification of education. An official college transcript, a high school diploma, or other educational documents must be submitted, where applicable, at the time of employment. Only United States (U.S.) citizens or aliens who have a legal right to work in the U.S. are eligible for employment. Federal law requires proof of your authorization to work in the United States. You will be required to provide proof of your identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of employment. Section 110.1128, Florida Statutes, prohibits employment by the State (including re-hire after a break in service) of any male born after October 1, 1962, who failed to register with the Selective Service System, under the provisions of the U.S. Military Selective Service Act, during the person's period of eligibility (ages 18 through 25). Additionally, if currently employed by the State, this law prohibits the promotion of such person. You may be required to provide documentation.
