Job Description
Position Summary We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Maintenance Assistant to help maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors in our skilled nursing facility. The Maintenance Assistant supports the daily operations of the maintenance department by performing routine repairs, preventative maintenance, grounds upkeep, and general facility support in compliance with state, federal, and facility regulations. Key Responsibilities Assist with routine maintenance and repair of building systems, equipment, and resident areas Perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC support tasks Complete preventative maintenance assignments and work orders in a timely manner Maintain facility grounds, including walkways, parking areas, and outdoor spaces Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed Ensure compliance with life safety, infection control, OSHA, and emergency preparedness standards Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance or safety concerns Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies and resident needs Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance storage areas in an organized and safe manner Assist with facility projects, renovations, and room turnovers Follow all company policies, HIPAA guidelines, and safety procedures Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred Previous maintenance experience in healthcare, long-term care, hospitality, or commercial facilities preferred Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building maintenance Ability to safely operate hand and power tools Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently Must be dependable, professional, and resident-focused Ability to pass background screening and drug screening in accordance with Florida regulations Physical Requirements Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and reaching Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures Equal Opportunity Employer We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for all employees regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status.
