Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for supporting the overall maintenance and repair operations of the facility to ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This role involves performing routine inspections, handling minor repairs, assisting with safety compliance, and responding promptly to maintenance requests. The Maintenance Assistant must be reliable, proactive, and capable of working independently or as part of a team. Flexibility is essential, as the position may require responding to emergency situations or being called in on weekends and after regular working hours.

Salary:
Starting at $15.00/hr
Job Duties:
Completing minor repair work Repairing doors, locks, door frames and handles Repairing, tightening loose fixtures, or repairing broken furniture. Replacing light bulbs, sockets, switches, and window glass.
Performing basic plumbing tasks:
unclogging drains, fixing leaking faucets and toilets.
Performing regular cleaning duties:
sweeping, dusting, mopping, and vacuuming. Inspecting control panels and electrical wiring to detect any issues that require immediate attention. Paint, clean, and maintain interior and exterior surfaces. Maintain outdoor areas including walkways, lawns, and parking lots. Taking inventory of maintenance supplies and notifying the Supervisor of low or depleted supplies. Assist with moving furniture or equipment. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff or residents. Keep logs of maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs. Report supply needs or inventory shortages to supervisors. Ensuring that all maintenance equipment is in good working order. Be available for emergency repairs or maintenance issues outside regular hours. Respond to weekend or after-hours call-ins as needed to ensure resident safety and facility operations.

Education Requirements High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Vocational training or certification in building maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, or a related trade is preferred but not required. Additional certifications (e.g., OSHA safety training, HVAC technician certification) are a plus.
Work Conditions:
Work is typically performed in a skilled nursing facility setting, with potential exposure to bodily fluids, chemicals, and other hazardous materials. Full-time, part-time, or PRN shifts may be available, including weekends and holidays as needed. Frequent interaction with residents, staff, and interdisciplinary teams. May require occasional evening or weekend hours, particularly during outbreaks, emergencies, or survey preparation. Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for infection control purposes. May be required to lift and carry objects over 10 lbs. Must be able to assist with or maneuver equipment such as wheelchairs, beds, and Hoyer lifts Frequent walking, standing, and occasional bending or kneeling may be necessary when conducting audits or inspections throughout the facility. Must be able to wear appropriate PPE as required and lift educational materials or small equipment. Tasks assigned to this position may involve potential and/or direct exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals.
