Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Street Technician will work mainly outdoors under the general supervision of the Street Department Manager to maintain and repair the streets, storm sewer, and right-of-way activities within one or more government jurisdictions.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform day-to-day tasks as assigned, including streets beautification, street asphalt patching work, concrete flatwork, gravel/dirt road maintenance, pothole repairs, storm sewer maintenance and repairs, ditch/canal maintenance , sign inventory and compliance, dry trash and debris removal, emergency storm work, street sweeping, mowing, edging right-of-way (ROW), and on- call duties. Ability to be tactful, courtesy and effective with the public and co-workers. Work with, assign, schedule, and/or oversee others as directed, during various tasks, projects, or seasons. Assist with the efforts of other departments/locations as training and experience will allow, or as directed by his/her supervisor, including assisting with city/county-wide clean-up projects, capital expenditure projects, etc. Execute safety and security measures to protect and safeguard people and property while performing job duties. Keep accurate, careful, and timely written records of work performed, and assist those under his/her supervision in doing the same. Routinely communicate with personnel throughout the department, city, county, and state to remain aware of issues and challenges as directed. This may include attending and participating in professional conferences throughout the region or representing the company in various capacities. Responds to after-hours emergencies and is prepared to be on-call for any critical workforce duties and emergency support functions. The Street Technician will perform all other duties as specified by his or her supervisor.WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Competently and safely operate, service, and maintain construction equipment, vehicles, and tools. Active driver's license is required at time of hire. Driver's license must be maintained as a condition of continued employment. Valid CDL Preferred. Knowledge of the geographical layout of the City/County where working is preferred. Safety is the company's number one priority. Subject to company needs, employee must undergo pre-employment drug screen and maintain compliance with company Drug Free Workplace Program at all times.
