Job Description

The purpose of this position is to Assistant to Maintenance Facilities Supervisor Ability to work well with minimal supervision Capacity to take direction Strong attention to detail Physically capable of routinely lifting and moving objects over 50 lbs Ensure that all physical aspects of all buildings are in working order. Maintain all physical plants within the state and federal guidelines and regulations. Ensure the preventative maintenance program is being done according to state and federal guidelines. Supervise assigned workers engaged in maintaining the facility. Order and account for supplies needed for maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry and the upkeep of the facility. Ensure high standards of safety, and operation/care of equipment in the facility. Oversee the Safety Committee for all Facilities. Review Safety Committee minutes monthly to ensure safety calendar is being followed. Utilize knowledge of all phases of maintenance. Maintain and strive to improve standards of environmental services. Review spend downs and budget reports monthly for all Facilities. These and other duties as assigned. Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Must possess basic knowledge in building and equipment maintenance and related areas.
  • Good physical and mental health and evidence of maturity.
  • Must have skills in working cooperatively with other professionals and have the ability to organize and carry out responsibilities efficiently and effectively.
  • Must have patience and tact, and ability to interact with residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately in a wide variety of circumstances, both verbally and in writing.
Working Conditions Well-lighted, well-ventilated office space with privacy for interviewing. All areas inside facility. Outside facility/outdoors, courtyards, patios and other outside areas. Work areas subject to noise, distractions, and interruptions; possibility of cuts, burns, electrical shocks, and chemical burns exist, as well as slippery floors and possibility of muscle strain. May be exposed to communicable disease and/or verbal abuse and injury from irrational residents. Interacting with the general public, often in adverse conditions; many residents and their families are under emotional stress dealing with issues of illness, hospice, death, and grief. Frequently changing conditions in which one must be attentive and able to respond appropriately. Will be required to travel to all Facilities on a regular basis. Constant necessity to respond maturely and effectively with residents, families, staff and other professionals. Appropriately represent facility in dress and demeanor.
Physical Requirements:
May require requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, grasping, finger dexterity, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, climbing and crawling during working hours. Must relate to physically ill elders and at times hostile and emotionally upset elders. Works beyond normal working hours and occasionally works weekends and holidays, as needed. May be called during off-duty hours to respond to emergencies or unusual circumstances. May be required to lift, push, pull and move equipment and supplies in excess of 50pounds and occasionally lift items in excess of 100 pounds. Employee works inside and outside of the building and may be subjected to extreme weather conditions. May be subjected to chemicals and respiratory hazards. Duties Specific duties are assigned at the discretion of the Administrator and may be adjusted to meet the needs of the facility and expertise of the personnel available. Housekeeping/Laundry Be alert to conditions in facility and report to the appropriate department. Follow through on projects. Assist in the development and approval of policies and procedures relating to leadership team duties. Serve on committees as required by statutes and regulations or as requested by the Administrator. Maintenance Ensure floor care is maintained in all Facilities. Revise assignments in the event of an emergency. Maintain quality control sheets. Ensure quality work, and appearance of staff and advises them of conditions that do not meet departmental and facility standards. Order supplies and materials as required under the direction of the Administrator. Stay current with work orders, and completes daily work assignments. Maintains acceptable record keeping. Monitors and maintains all facilities, keeping facilities in safe and acceptable condition. Responsible for proper safety practices and maintaining of physical equipment. Ensure all required drills and keep records in accordance with fire, life and safety codes. Must be able to adjust to frequent and necessary changes in methods and procedures. Assist in the development and approval of policies and procedures relating to department head duties. Serve on committees as required by statutes and regulations or as requested by the Administrator. In-Service Education Participate in all required in-service meetings. Participate in selected continuing education programs if available. Quality Assurance Participate in quality assurance program and attend scheduled meetings. Responsibilities Understand and abide by established policies of the facility and interpret them to concerned parties. Maintain confidentiality of information; maintain a professional demeanor. Account for use of time, report sickness, and plan vacation and holiday time with the Administrator. Prepare all required reports and submit to the appropriate entity. Other specific duties as assigned by environmental services.
