Maintenance Staff Greater Southside Health and Rehabilitation Des Moines, IA Job Details Full-time $18 - $22 an hour 14 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance Flexible schedule Life insurance Qualifications Maintaining an organized workspace Equipment repair Writing skills English Driver's License Driving Organizational skills Clean workspace maintenance Facilities maintenance Full Job Description Overview The primary purpose of your job position is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Maintenance Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator, and/or the Maintenance Supervisor, to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner. This position will also assist with transportation responsibilities. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. A proactive approach and excellent organizational skills are essential to ensure smooth office operations and financial accuracy. Duties Adheres to and assures compliance with Code of Conduct, facility policies and procedures, and all applicable rules, regulations, and standards as promulgated by Federal, State, and accrediting agencies or regulating bodies. This includes, but is not limited to, Department of Health, Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services, and other applicable regulatory agencies. Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas. Use appropriate personal protective equipment and supplies when handling infectious materials. Ensure that the facility and its equipment is properly maintained for resident comfort and convenience. Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your supervisor as soon as possible. Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies. Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, and other areas as necessary or directed, including cutting, trimming, policing, and sweeping. Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment to include plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc., as directed, in accordance with established procedures. Clean windows and screens as directed. Replace burned-out light bulbs, including exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, and room call lights, as needed. Perform cleaning duties wherever necessary. Skills Must be able to write, read, speak, and understand the English language. Must possess the ability to follow instructions and to accept constructive criticism. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public. Must maintain the care and use of supplies, tools, and equipment, and ensure the appearance of maintenance work areas is kept clean and orderly. Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning. Must have the ability to minimize waste of supplies, misuse of equipment, etc. Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing dietary practices. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. Must be able to relate information concerning a resident's condition. Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace. Must have a valid drivers license.
