Park Maintenance Operator I

The City of Oskaloosa is accepting applications for the position of Park Maintenance Operator I. This position performs general maintenance of city parks and associated facilities. This is a manual and semi-skilled labor position requiring operation and maintenance of grounds keeping as well as medium to heavy duty street maintenance and construction equipment. May be responsible for coordinating the work of a small crew of seasonal laborers or contractors engaged in park maintenance. This position will assist with other projects and work assignments as needed, including road maintenance, construction projects, snow removal and storm water maintenance. Good knowledge of grounds keeping operations; ability to develop working plans and coordinate park maintenance work; ability to perform manual labor related to the operation of motorized equipment; ability to operate medium and heavy duty trucks and equipment for street construction and maintenance projects; ability to work independently and meet or exceed expectations for assigned work timeframes, budget, and quality; ability to prepare reports; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and other city departments; ability to perform strenuous physical activities (see full job description). Special Requirements Valid Iowa Commercial Driver License (CDL) or ability to obtain license within 60 days of employment. Pesticide license issued by the State of Iowa or ability to obtain license within 90 days of employment. Certified Pool Operator license or ability to obtain license within one (1) year of employment.
